My Recomendations
Restaurants
Plain
and Fancy has tables where you sit with the guests that arrive before
and after you in a family style eating arrangement. Food is brought
to the table in big bowls or on serving platters, which are passed around.
Traditional dishes make up the menu, so do try
dried corn, chow chow, chicken pot pie, raisin bread, apple dumplings and
shoefly pie. I always get the apple
dumpling for dessert! Miller's Smogasbord (same web site - same
company owns it) is buffet style and a bit fancier, but with good food
featuring the area's traditional foods. It is near the Lancaster
Host on Route 30.
Shady
Maple Smorgasbord This restaurant is huge, but don't let that stop
you. The food is very good and has the real local flavors.
Next to the restaurant is Good's general store, which carries such necessities
as straw hats, fabrics for quilts, muck boots and little red wagons.
