Bear and I went to the Devon dog show on 10/05/2002 and when we had the chance, we watched the judging for Norwich terriers.  Since my Winky died and Blinky is now 14, I had been asking around for several years about the possibility of getting another Norwich - to no avail.  At the Corgi ring, I ran into my friend Larry Adams from St. Louis.  Since he has a Norwich or two, I asked if he had any puppies at the moment.  He said, "No, but I know someone who does!"  He introduced us to Sue Weaver from North Carolina.  We went to her hotel after judging to see her puppies.  The pet had been sold and the only one she had left was Eddie!  We loved him and, on the recommendation of Larry, she let us take him home!  It turns out the several people - friends of Sue - who came to see him and visit for a bit - really thought highly of little Eddie.

The next evening after the Montgomery Show (an all terrier event that draws huge entries fro all over the country) I got a phone call that Eddie's mom had been Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners for 5 points at the National Specialty held at Montgomery!  With a wink, Bear told me to call Eddie's breeder and tell her we'd sell him back for a thousand more than we paid for him!  I did that and Sandy laughed, but then I got the email about Eddie's dam a week later:

"Hi, I guess you will have to send me another check
because I usually get double the price when the mom
goes BEST-IN-SHOW from the classes. Millie won the
group yesterday and went BEST TODAY. SHE ONLY NEEDS A
POINT to finish. Pretty good for only 4 shows!! Sandra
and I are so excited. Steve Hurt gave her the Group
and said he had only given one other Norwich a group
in all of his days judging and that was Applause
Applause. He didn't know that was her great
grandfather and grandfather on both of her parents
side. That was way back in 1987 and he hadn't
forgotten. He was a super little dog and she is a
super little girl. Give [Eddie] a hug for me and keep in
touch."
Hugs, Sue

"Hi, Millie got her champioship this weekend. Last
weekend there were no points but she got a group 2 on
Sunday. On Friday she got a 4pt. major and won the
breed over 3 specials and got a group 3. Yesterday she
won the breed again. So she is undefeated in the breed
since Montgomery. Not a bad way to finish with all
majors. I am very proud of her.  I'm looking forward to
seeing [Eddie] at the shows. I will be visiting my son so
will try and get up one of the days. Good luck and
give him a hug for me."  Hugs, Sue

11/3/2002 evening
"Hi, Well she is still on a roll.  Would you believe she
got a GROUP 1 TODAY.  I AM JUST STILL IN A DAZE!!  We
are going to try and get her in at the Garden - won't
that be exciting.  I'll be in touch." Sue
