reworking my website to a combined site--soon to have both breeds at www.darrowby.com.)
Here
is a photo of a sable, Cody, now renamed Jack.
He was
my foster dog .
His story
was that he was turned over to a pound in rural Illinois
because
he marked in the house. He never marked at my house.
When
I got him he was covered in fleas and he had worms and ticks.
He also
had been the victim of a badly botched neuter.
He was
a mess.
Despite
his physical condition he was a gentleman and a love.
He recovered
well after 2 weeks of antibiotics and pain meds.
He was
the most "huggie" dog I have ever seen. He would tuck his
paws
around me and sit on my lap for hours and sleep. He also liked
to be
on top of things. This photo is him on the top of a #300
vari
kennel sleeping on a blanket. He opened his eyes when
I picked
up the camera.
He now
lives in West Virginia and is learning agility with his new
family.

A
picture of my first corgi bitch, Pemwell's Apple Annie. She was an
all over black sable. If you are interested, I could send you a picture
of her. Unfortunately, I don't know much about her breeding because
she was a rescue. I do know she came from the Suzyque line and I
can possibly ask Henry Florsheim if he remembers the breeding.
I would love to see an all over black sable again, but I don't think I
ever will. In the 13 years I've been in corgis, I've never seen another
one.
I would love to see more sables showing. Joan Adams |
