Lois,
Just wanted to update you on Skipper.  We went to Pennsylvania (Krusin Kanine Club) and had a weekend full of agility.  This was Skipper's first NADAC (North American  Dog Agility Council) trial.  He loved the venue.  He was so focused and ran beautifully.  On Saturday he ran his first two standard courses and did very well, listened to me beautifully.  He had trouble with the weaves and he has not really seen them without guide bars so he didn't qualify as he missed some poles.  He had his first jumpers on Saturday and I was concerned as he had been knocking bars ( common complaint with Corgis) but he didn't knock a one - qualified and came in second.

Sunday he was wired.  I guess on Saturday he figured out what all that practice was about and was a happy, happy dog.  The first course he ran he was too wild and jumped off equipment so I pulled him and put him in his crate to let him know he wasn't to act like that in the ring- I was afraid he'd hurt himself.  Next run was a gamble ( you have 45 seconds to pick your own course and try to get at least 20 points then the whistle blows and you have four or five objects you must take in order and from a certain distance).  Skipper got 30 points in the front half and did the gamble perfectly - unfortunately the whistle blew as he was going over the last jump so he didn't qualify but in my mind he certainly did.  It was gorgeous! Last of the day was another jumpers run and Skipper was perfect - so good in fact that he came in first and qualified so SKIP NOW HAS A JUMPERS TITLE. HE IS TERENELF'S SKIP TO MY LOU NJ.

I am so proud of him and we are going to be a terrific team to contend with once we get the weave poles figured out. He has such a great, calm attitude.  So many of the other Corgis are spinning, biting, barking, etc. and he just does the job and keeps going.  What a great little dog.  So now I have to start his wall of ribbons and what a great start.

I told you that I would write to you and update you on my little Skipper.  He is one very imaginative and intelligent Corgi.  I can still remember when I first met Skipper and you said that he would be a very agile boy for my agility trials and he certainly has been.  He is also one of the most intelligent and imaginative guys I have ever owned.

Imagine if you will that one morning you are very industrious and get up early and make blueberry muffins for breakfast for yourself and your husband.  You have one and your husband has two, leaving nine for the next day.  Being the good housekeeper you are, you put them in a bowl and cover with seran wrap and put them on the counter next to the stove for safe keeping.  The day holds many things but mostly finishing the wallpapering upstairs so up you go and spend the day.  Low and behold that agile little
corgi has "too much time on his paws" since you are preoccupied and being the agility dog he is and being the problem solver he is, Skipper puts his mind to work and thinks up a plan. He has spent days studying the cat and how he walks the counters and decides he can do it too.  He gets under the table, up the bench on the other side, up on the windowsill, jumps over the trash can onto the corner of the counter, crosses the stove and comes face to face with the muffins that he knows have been waiting for him.  He downs 9 muffins - paper and all - in one sitting and jumps off the counter.  Down the stairs comes the happy homeowner in quest of a muffin that she has been thinking about as her reward for a job well done.  Well, bless my soul there is not one muffin in the container but we do have a Corgi who is walking very strangely - like he has something up his butt.  Skip has justed learned that paper goes in alot easier than it comes out!!!!!  My counters now contain nothing that a Corgi can eat!!  This is what I get for teaching Skipper agility.  By the way, Skipper is now

Great website for the performance dogs, by the way.  Skipper just received his Outstand Novice Agility title (ONA) so you can add that title to his many others and he also received his Superior Novice Gamblers title (SNG).  All he needs is 35 more points to acheive his novice triple superior title which we should get sometime this spring.

Hope all is well and I'll keep you posted.
